Wider, not stretched
Stretching an image to make it wider distorts every face and line in it. Widening instead keeps the photo its true shape and adds new picture on the left and right, so a 4:3 frame can become 16:9 with the subject untouched.
Choose a wider target shape and the engine extends only the sides, filling them from the edge pixels, a mirror of the scene or the edge painter.
Questions
Does my photo get uploaded?
No. The picture is read, grown and encoded by code running in this browser tab. It is never sent to a server — there is no server to send it to. The only download that ever happens is the optional edge-painter model, which travels one way, from our model file server to you.
Why not just stretch the image?
Stretching changes the proportions of everything in the frame — faces go fat, circles go oval. Widening keeps the photo true and builds genuinely new picture at the sides.
My photo is already wide. Will this do anything?
If it's already wider than the target shape, there's nothing to add on the sides. Pick a wider target, or use Zoom out to grow every side at once.
What volume does this answer?
"Widen image" sits in the 500-a-month bucket in India, alongside "extend image" at 5K — both are about adding width without cutting, which is what this does.
